Apple announces HomeView display and Home Collection
Apple announced HomeView, its first smart display, on October 13, alongside a new Home Collection of connected devices developed with LG Electronics and Schneider Electric. The announcements expand Apple’s smart-home lineup with a central screen and accessories for security, door access and climate control. HomeView has a seven-inch display, supports Siri AI and is designed to show household information, handle video calls and control compatible smart-home devices. Apple says facial recognition can identify household members and personalize the display for up to six people. The device costs $299 in the United States, with preorders open and availability scheduled to begin November 13. It will come in tabletop and wall-mounted versions. The Home Collection includes LG cameras, a video doorbell, a smart lock, a thermostat and temperature sensors, alongside a Schneider Electric thermostat and room sensors. Availability is scheduled to begin in December, with some products following in early 2027. Apple has not specified which items are in the later release window. Apple says the cameras can identify people, animals, vehicles and packages.
