Rumored iPhone Air 2 Could Be Thinner With Larger Battery

Published 8 October 2026

A rumor about Apple’s unannounced iPhone Air 2 says the phone could be thinner than the original while carrying a larger-capacity battery. The claims come from the Naver account yeux1122 and have not been confirmed by Apple. The account says the successor would measure about 5.2 millimeters thick, down from 5.6 millimeters for the current iPhone Air. That would be a reduction of 0.4 millimeters, or roughly 7%, and would match the reported thickness of the iPhone Duo when unfolded. A thinner body typically leaves less room for a battery, but the Naver post says capacity would rise through use of a higher-density battery. The post does not provide a confirmed battery specification. A 3,500-milliamp-hour battery has appeared in earlier rumors, compared with 3,149 milliamp-hours in the current model. If those figures prove accurate, the increase would be about 11%. Neither the iPhone Air 2 nor its specifications have been announced by Apple. The reports describe a possible early-2027 release, but Apple has not confirmed a launch date. It is therefore not known whether the rumored design or battery will appear in a finished product.
