Apple Opens App Submissions for iPhone Duo Apps

Published 7 October 2026

Apple has opened App Store submissions for apps and games optimized for its upcoming foldable iPhone Duo, giving developers a way to prepare software ahead of the device’s planned October 23, 2026, availability. Apple says developers can build or recompile apps with Xcode 27.1 and submit them through App Store Connect. The submissions remain subject to Apple’s App Store review process. The reports do not establish how many optimized apps have been submitted or approved, or how many will be available when the device reaches customers. Apple says apps built with the iOS 27.1 software development kit or later can adapt to fill the Duo’s inner display. Existing apps are expected to run even if they have not been updated, but Apple’s developer guidance says they may not use the full display and can appear with black borders. Developers can use Device Hub to check how apps behave in different device positions and orientations. Apple is also providing developer resources on adapting interfaces and preparing App Store materials, and has announced workshops focused on the device. Apps compiled or recompiled with Xcode 27.
