Next iPad mini may cost about $799, report says
Apple may charge about $799 for its next iPad mini, a roughly $200 increase over the current model’s $599 starting price, according to an estimate reported by Bloomberg columnist Mark Gurman. Apple has not announced the tablet or confirmed its price. Gurman has also reported that Apple is planning an event on or around October 27 where it could announce the device. The event date and product announcement have not been confirmed by Apple. The reported estimate would put the iPad mini above the current starting prices of the iPad Air, at $749, and the basic iPad, at $449. Those comparisons use prices for the current lineup; the reports do not establish whether they will change. The next iPad mini is expected to be the first in the line with an OLED display, a screen technology used in some of Apple’s higher-end devices. Reports also describe a possible A20 Pro chip, a landscape-positioned front camera, redesigned speakers and a water-resistant design. Apple has not confirmed these features, and the precise specifications remain unsettled.
