Apple Has Not Renewed Ted Lasso for Season 5

Published 7 October 2026

Apple TV has not renewed Ted Lasso for a fifth season, and no release date or production start has been confirmed, despite creator and star Jason Sudeikis saying he envisions a three-season arc for the show’s story about Richmond’s women’s team. The status leaves the series’ future unresolved after Season 4 concluded. Sudeikis’s stated plan signals that he sees room for the story to continue, but it does not amount to a commitment by Apple to make another season. Apple has not announced either a renewal or that the fourth season is the show’s final one. In comments made before the fourth season aired, Sudeikis described the women’s-team story as having a three-season arc. The first three seasons largely followed Ted and Richmond’s men’s team; Season 4 shifted focus to the women’s side. The plan, as described, could extend that newer storyline, but whether it will be produced remains unknown. Apple programming executive Matt Cherniss said in an interview before Season 4 that Sudeikis was looking to move on to the next season. Cherniss added that, to his knowledge at the time, work on it had not begun. That account offers no confirmation of a subsequent production start.
