Apple TV sets October 7 premiere for Small Prophets

Apple TV released a trailer for the British comedy-drama Small Prophets on September 30 and plans to premiere its first two episodes on October 7 outside the United Kingdom. The series will not be available to UK subscribers until 2027, according to the announced release plan; no specific UK date has been given. The series follows Michael Sleep Quigley, an eccentric man whose girlfriend, Clea, disappeared seven years earlier. Michael works in a do-it-yourself store and hopes Clea will return. After his father, Brian, shares a recipe for creating homunculi, magical spirits said to predict the future, Michael tries to make them in the hope they can answer questions about Clea. The story also follows Michael’s friendship with his young coworker Kacey and the attention their activities attract from neighbors. The show combines live action with animation. Mackenzie Crook created, wrote and directed the series, and also appears in it. The cast includes Pearce Quigley, Lauren Patel, Michael Palin, Sophie Willan, Jon Pointing and Paul Kaye. Small Prophets first aired on BBC Two in the UK. Its first season is described as six episodes.
