Apple Closes Above $5 Trillion for First Time

Published 15 October 2026

Apple closed Wednesday with a market value above $5 trillion for the first time, becoming the second publicly traded company to reach the milestone after NVIDIA. The stock finished at $342.96, up 0.5%, giving Apple a market capitalization of about $5.005 trillion. The threshold had been crossed during regular trading on earlier occasions, but Wednesday was Apple’s first close above it. The stock reached $347.07 intraday, according to one report. The company’s closing valuation placed it behind NVIDIA, which remained the world’s most valuable company. Reports put NVIDIA’s market capitalization at about $5.33 trillion to $5.343 trillion at Wednesday’s close; one estimate said it was roughly $338 billion ahead of Apple. Apple’s rise came as several other large technology stocks fell. NVIDIA shares declined 3.16%, while Oracle fell 8.83%, Meta lost 3.27%, Microsoft dropped 1.8%, Amazon declined 1.74% and Google fell 1.68%, according to reported market figures. Apple’s 0.5% gain brought its shares close to their reported 52-week high of $348.15. The milestone follows a leadership change at the company.
