Amazon Expands Automatic Prime Refunds to More Customers

Published 2 October 2026

Amazon began an expanded phase of automatic refunds on October 1, 2026, under its settlement with the Federal Trade Commission, adding eligible U.S. Prime customers who used 11 to 20 Prime benefits during a qualifying 12-month period. The settlement allows eligible consumers to receive up to $200 in total, though individual payments vary and eligibility depends on additional conditions. Customers must have enrolled through one of the Prime signup processes covered by the case, or unsuccessfully tried to cancel through Amazon’s online cancellation process, between June 23, 2019, and June 23, 2025. They must also have used no more than 20 Prime benefits during a qualifying year after enrolling. The expanded phase covers customers not included in earlier payment rounds; use of Prime benefits alone does not establish eligibility. The Federal Trade Commission says eligible customers do not need to submit a claim, respond to a notice or complete additional paperwork. Amazon will distribute payments automatically through electronic transfers, including PayPal or Venmo, or by mailed check. Some reports say recipients have 60 days from issuance to accept or cash a payment.
