Amazon and Constellation Sign 20-Year Nuclear Power Deal

Published 1 October 2026

Amazon and Constellation Energy have announced a 20-year power purchase agreement covering 690 megawatts of electricity from Maryland’s Calvert Cliffs nuclear plant, alongside a separate retail supply deal for Amazon operations across the PJM market. The companies said the agreements will support more than $3 billion in infrastructure investment, including a planned addition of about 190 megawatts of generating capacity between 2030 and 2032. Calvert Cliffs has two reactors with a combined generating capacity of 1,790 megawatts. The 690-megawatt contract covers a portion of the plant’s output. The companies said electricity from the facility will continue flowing into the PJM regional grid, rather than being reserved exclusively for Amazon. The separate retail supply agreement covers Amazon operations across PJM’s 13-state market. The companies described the investment as supporting upgrades at the plant and added generation. The planned 190-megawatt increase has not yet been completed, and the companies’ announcement placed its expected delivery between 2030 and 2032. Financial details, including the power agreement’s pricing, were not disclosed in the reports.
