Amazon refreshes Kindle lineup with first color Scribe
Amazon announced a broad refresh of its Kindle e-reader lineup on October 1, introducing redesigned Kindle, Paperwhite and Colorsoft models, new accessories and its first color Kindle Scribe. The updated devices have flatter fronts and relocated power buttons, while selected models add aluminum backs and more storage. Amazon also announced a Bluetooth remote for turning pages. The entry-level Kindle and its aluminum-backed version were reported as available on October 1. The Paperwhite and Colorsoft models were scheduled to become available on October 28, though some reports described their ordering status differently. Prices also vary across the reports and markets, so the figures are not consistent enough to establish a single price for every model. The refreshed base Kindle has a 6-inch display, a flush front and a thinner body. The standard model has 16 gigabytes of storage; the aluminum-backed version has 32 gigabytes. The 7-inch Paperwhite is also thinner and lighter, and retains waterproofing. Amazon says it can provide up to 12 weeks of battery life.
