ALS Advocate Brooke Eby Dies at 37
Brooke Eby, an ALS advocate who chronicled her life with the disease on social media and built an online community for others affected by it, has died at 37, the ALS Network announced October 1. The announcement did not specify when she died. Eby was diagnosed with amyotrophic lateral sclerosis at 33. Eby became known online as LimpBroozkit, sharing videos on TikTok and Instagram about the effects of ALS and her changing abilities. Her posts combined candid accounts of illness with humor, reaching hundreds of thousands of followers and helping introduce a wider audience to a disease often associated with older people. ALS Network President and CEO Sheri Strahl said Eby changed how people viewed ALS and helped people living with the disease find and support one another. Strahl credited her with bringing humor to difficult moments and creating connections within the community. Eby also founded ALStogether, described as an online community and nonprofit connecting people diagnosed with ALS with resources, experts, caregivers and others living with the disease. Her work extended beyond social media to advocacy and fundraising for ALS awareness and research.
