Yandex suspends Sasovo data center after fire

Published 8 October 2026

Yandex said a serious incident at its Sasovo data center in Russia’s Ryazan region caused a fire, forced the facility to suspend operations and disrupted some of the company’s cloud services. The company said it was working to restore affected services, but did not publicly identify the cause of the incident or describe the full extent of damage. The facility’s operational suspension was reported on Thursday, October 8. Yandex said its core consumer services were not affected. Its cloud-service updates cited power-supply problems in one availability zone and advised customers to use other zones. Earlier updates said service had not yet stabilized. Reports from users and outage monitors described problems with selected services, including Yandex Documents and Yandex Tables, while accounts also cited disruptions to Yandex Disk. Monitoring channels and eyewitness accounts attributed the fire to a drone attack overnight. The cause, however, was not confirmed by Yandex, and regional authorities and Ukraine’s military had not publicly confirmed a strike at the time of reporting. A regional governor said a roof at a company in Sasovo had caught fire but did not identify the company.
