Xbox Creates XP Division for Entertainment and Live Experiences
Xbox has created XP, a division that will bring together its work on film and television, consumer products, partnerships and live experiences tied to its gaming franchises. Kayleen Walters, Mojang’s outgoing president, will lead the new unit as president, the company said on October 8, 2026. XP consolidates capabilities that had been spread across Xbox teams. The company says the division is intended to help its franchises reach audiences beyond games and deepen connections with existing players and new fans. Its four areas are screen adaptations; licensing and merchandise; partnerships with creators, brands and communities; and live events, immersive experiences and other destinations. Xbox has described XP as a coordinating unit rather than a traditional production company. Its role is to match franchises with outside creative and production partners, according to the company’s explanation. The announcement did not name new films, television shows or attractions commissioned by XP, and it did not establish how the division will participate in projects already underway.
