Wike Says Campaign Officials Must Deliver States for Tinubu
Nyesom Wike told officials at the inauguration of the All Progressives Congress Presidential Campaign Council that they should not claim credit for President Bola Tinubu’s victory in 2027 if they fail to deliver electoral support in their assigned states. He said campaign roles should be judged by results rather than titles. Wike, the minister of the Federal Capital Territory, spoke Wednesday, October 14, in Abuja. He said leaders supporting Tinubu’s re-election should take responsibility for mobilising voters in their territories, regardless of their position on the campaign council. Wike said he had been assigned to coordinate Tinubu’s campaign in Rivers State and the FCT. He pledged that both would vote massively for the president, describing them as his two assignments. His pledge was a prediction, not a reported election result. To illustrate his point about local performance, Wike referred to Lagos State and said officials should not claim victory there if the president failed to win the state. He also challenged leaders in the FCT’s area councils to demonstrate the administration’s presence, arguing that its projects should translate into support at the polls.
