Tinubu Urges 2027 Vote Delivery, May Skip Some Rallies
President Bola Tinubu told the newly inaugurated All Progressives Congress Presidential Campaign Council to secure votes in their wards in the 2027 election, while saying he may not attend every campaign event because he must continue governing Nigeria. Tinubu spoke on October 14 in Abuja at the council’s inauguration. He said members would not receive credit for their work until they delivered votes in their wards at the next general election. He thanked party members for their support in the previous election but described the next vote as an unfinished task. The council is intended to coordinate the party’s campaign activity ahead of the 2027 polls. Tinubu urged its members to lead mobilisation across states and local government areas. He said he would still make time to address Nigerians directly, according to one account of his remarks. Tinubu also said he might not accompany party leaders to every state or rally. He agreed with calls for campaign activities not to distract him from his responsibilities as president, saying Nigeria needed his attention. He did not identify events he would skip or give a detailed campaign itinerary.
