APC Opens Tinubu Campaign Council to Opposition Figures
The All Progressives Congress inaugurated its 2027 presidential campaign council in Abuja on October 14, with three politicians from other parties attending after being named coordinators for their states and the Federal Capital Territory. The revised council is organizing support for President Bola Tinubu’s bid for a second term. Nyesom Wike, the FCT minister and a member of the Peoples Democratic Party, was named coordinator for Rivers State and the FCT. Osun Governor Ademola Adeleke, of the Accord Party, was assigned to coordinate in Osun, while Anambra Governor Chukwuma Soludo, of the All Progressives Grand Alliance, was named coordinator for Anambra. All three attended the inauguration. Their appointments place politicians who remain associated with other parties in the campaign structure of the ruling APC. Wike said the campaign should allow people outside the APC to contribute to Tinubu’s reelection effort, regardless of party affiliation. The roles do not by themselves establish that any of the three has joined the APC. The parties’ positions differ. APGA has said it supports Tinubu for president while maintaining its own candidates for legislative seats in Anambra.
