WhatsApp Adds Guest Calling Without an Account
WhatsApp has announced a guest-calling feature that lets people without accounts join one-to-one and group calls through links opened in a computer browser. The company said on October 14, 2026, that guests can participate after a WhatsApp account holder admits them to the call. To start a guest call, an account holder creates a link from WhatsApp’s Calls tab and shares it with invitees. Guests open the link in a computer browser, enter a name and wait for approval. Only account holders can create links, so guests can join calls but cannot start them through this feature. WhatsApp says calls can include up to 32 participants, have no time limit and are end-to-end encrypted. Those details come from the company’s announcement; the supplied reporting does not describe independent testing of the encryption or call capacity. A reported hands-on test covered creating links, rather than verifying those other features. Once admitted, guests can share their computer screens, react with emojis and raise their hands. WhatsApp says guests cannot see other participants’ phone numbers, send messages or add people to the call.
