Meta brings Your Algorithm preference controls to Facebook

Published 14 October 2026

Meta has announced Your Algorithm, a Facebook feature that lets users describe the topics they want to see more or less often in Feed and Reels. The tool adds natural-language preference controls to the platform’s recommendation system, though its availability may vary as it rolls out. Users can open the three-dot menu on individual posts to access Your Algorithm or mark content as Interested or Not interested. They can also add and manage topics, and describe in their own words what they want their recommendations to include or reduce. Meta says Facebook may ask follow-up questions to clarify those preferences. Meta says recommendations will respond in real time to users’ feedback. The company also says large language models help its ranking systems interpret the interests, context and intent conveyed in natural-language requests. These are descriptions of the feature’s design from Meta; the reports do not provide independent tests measuring how recommendations change after users submit preferences. A reporter said the feature had not appeared in their Facebook app at the time they checked and was therefore not available for testing in that account.
