WhatsApp Tests Message Scheduling for Android Beta Users

Published 12 October 2026

WhatsApp is testing a message-scheduling feature with some Android beta users, allowing them to prepare messages for delivery at a chosen time, including when their phone is offline. The feature is expected to reach more accounts in the coming weeks, according to reports citing beta-tracker WABetaInfo; WhatsApp has not announced a release date. The reported feature works in individual and group chats and supports text, links, photos and videos. Users schedule a message by pressing and holding the send button, then selecting a delivery time. The reports say messages can be set for as soon as 10 minutes later or as far as two weeks ahead. Scheduled messages are expected to be sent at the selected time even if the sender’s phone is offline or the app is not open. WABetaInfo also reported that the messages remain end-to-end encrypted. Recipients do not need access to the scheduling option themselves to receive a scheduled message. A management area in chat information is reported to let users review or delete pending messages. One report said deleting a scheduled message before delivery does not notify the recipient.
