Wakefield beat Warrington 23-10 to win first Grand Final
Wakefield Trinity defeated Warrington Wolves 23-10 at Old Trafford on October 3 to win the 2026 Super League Grand Final, securing the club’s first Grand Final victory and first league title since 1968. Wakefield led 19-0 at halftime and held on after Warrington mounted a second-half response. The result capped a rapid rise for Wakefield, who were relegated in 2023 and returned to Super League after winning the Championship playoff final, with their place confirmed through IMG grading, according to reports. The club reached its first Grand Final after finishing fourth in the regular season and beating Wigan Warriors in the semifinals. Wakefield’s three first-half tries came from Cameron Scott, Isaiah Vagana and Jazz Tevaga. Max Jowitt converted all three, and Jack Sinfield added a drop goal before the break to extend the lead to 19 points. The early scoring gave Warrington a substantial deficit to overcome after a dominant opening period from Wakefield. Warrington got a chance to shift the momentum soon after halftime when Wakefield’s Corey Hall was sinbinned.
