Vikings Add Odell Beckham Jr. to Practice Squad

Published 7 October 2026

The Minnesota Vikings added wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr. to their practice squad on Wednesday, October 7, giving the 33-year-old another opportunity to continue his NFL career. The team announced the move. Beckham has not been elevated to Minnesota’s active roster, and the signing alone does not establish whether he will play in a game. Beckham joined the Vikings after the New York Giants released him on September 29. He appeared in three games for New York this season without a reception. Reports differ on whether he played 19 or 20 offensive snaps, so the precise total is unclear. His release came during a second stint with the team that drafted him 12th overall in 2014. The signing followed an ankle injury to Vikings receiver Justin Jefferson, who missed Week 4, according to one report linking the injury to Minnesota’s move. The team has not been quoted explaining its decision in the supplied accounts. Jordan Addison handled much of the receiving work in Jefferson’s absence, according to reporting on the Vikings’ roster situation, while the team added Beckham to its practice squad rather than its active roster.
