Giants QB Jaxson Dart could miss rest of 2026 season

New York Giants quarterback Jaxson Dart could miss the remainder of the 2026 season after further testing showed his left knee injury is worse than initially believed, with the possibility of season-ending surgery, ESPN's Adam Schefter reported Tuesday. Dart was injured on the Giants' opening drive of Monday Night Football against the Los Angeles Rams at SoFi Stadium, less than four minutes into the contest. On a third-down play, Rams linebacker Byron Young hit Dart from his right side, sending him into linebacker Josaiah Stewart, whose leg collided with Dart's planted left knee. Dart limped off under his own power, was evaluated in the medical tent, and was ruled out. The Giants lost 28-6. Initial examinations Monday night created optimism that Dart had avoided a major injury, with coach John Harbaugh saying afterward that the diagnosis was in the neighborhood of a sprained medial collateral ligament. General manager Joe Schoen told a sideline reporter Dart "will be OK." More testing Tuesday, including an MRI after the team returned to New Jersey, detected more significant damage. Harbaugh declined to confirm the severity of the injury at his day-after press conference.
