Video Shows Paxton at Dubai Gathering With Indicted Men

A video reviewed by The Wall Street Journal shows Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton at a Dubai New Year’s Eve gathering on December 31, 2024, with two men who had already been indicted in a federal health care fraud case. The footage shows Paxton and Tracy Duhon among guests watching fireworks; Anosh Ahmed and Sameer Suhail were also present. The gathering took place months after Ahmed and Suhail were indicted alongside another executive over alleged diversion of more than $15 million from a Chicago hospital. Prosecutors allege that the defendants used payments for goods and services that were not provided. Ahmed was the hospital’s former chief financial officer. The charges are allegations, and the men are presumed innocent. Campaign finance records reviewed by the Journal show Ahmed contributed $190,000 to Paxton’s campaign, including $25,000 days after Ahmed’s July 2024 indictment. The contributions establish a financial link between Ahmed and the campaign, but do not by themselves show wrongdoing by Paxton or a connection to official actions.
