Verstappen wins Red Bull kart event, passes 100 rivals in 14 laps

Four-time Formula 1 world champion Max Verstappen won the Red Bull-organized 'Max vs 100' event at Silverstone on Wednesday, starting from the back of a 101-kart grid and overtaking all 100 rivals in 14 laps. The staged demonstration of skill saw Verstappen complete the challenge in approximately 35 minutes on a purpose-built track. Under the event's rules, a pass was final, eliminating the overtaken driver immediately. The field consisted of identical karts driven by content creators, athletes, journalists, and fans. Verstappen's charge began with immediate chaos. He overtook more than 60 drivers on the first lap alone, with significant collisions and spins occurring throughout the field. "I have no idea what's going on. It's carnage," Verstappen said over the radio early in the event. By lap four, he had passed 75 karters, and by lap seven, he had climbed into the top four. The final group of three drivers-journalist Jacky Martens, content creator Zac Alsop, and Red Bull Ford Powertrains technician Lewis Osler-had built a 12-second lead. The race director awarded this leading trio an extra fast lap on lap 12 to extend the contest.
