Ulster rally from 21 points down to draw with Munster
Ulster recovered from a 21-point halftime deficit to draw 26-26 with Munster at Affidea Stadium on October 10, scoring the equalising try with less than three minutes remaining. Munster had led 26-5 at the break but did not score in the second half of the United Rugby Championship match. Stuart McCloskey crossed late for Ulster, and Jack Murphy’s conversion levelled the score. The result followed a second-half rally in which Ulster scored three tries after managing one before halftime. Munster had scored four tries in the opening period, including two by Alex Kendellen. Jacob Stockdale began Ulster’s recovery with his second try of the match. David McCann then crossed to cut the deficit to seven points, setting up a tense finish. Munster defended for much of the closing period, but Ulster moved the ball wide for McCloskey’s try and Murphy converted. Munster had taken control early through tries by Kendellen, Marnus van der Merwe and Dan Kelly, along with Kendellen’s second score just before the interval. JJ Hanrahan converted three of the four tries.
