Tropical Storm Edouard hits Texas-Louisiana border

Tropical Storm Edouard made landfall Tuesday afternoon near Johnson Bayou, Louisiana, close to the Texas border, bringing heavy rain and wind to the Gulf Coast region. The storm, which never reached hurricane strength, struck with maximum sustained winds of approximately 60 miles per hour, according to the National Weather Service. The landfall occurred just after 2 p.m. on September 1, 2026, near the small coastal community of Johnson Bayou. Donald Jones, a meteorologist with the National Weather Service in Lake Charles, confirmed the storm's arrival and noted that Edouard was quickly losing strength. He forecast that it would likely weaken into a tropical depression by Wednesday morning.
