Time season 3 begins BBC rollout with David Tennant

Published 12 October 2026

The third season of Time began its BBC rollout on October 11, moving the drama into a young offenders institution and introducing David Tennant as prison officer Bobby Bailey. All three episodes became available on BBC iPlayer that morning, while the first was scheduled to air on BBC One at 9 p.m. The second episode was scheduled for October 12 and the third for October 18. The new season follows staff and teenage inmates at the institution. Siobhan Finneran returns as chaplain Marie-Louise O’Dell, the only character carried over from the previous seasons. In this story, she has lost her faith and clashes with Bailey after a tragedy at the prison. The series also follows young inmates James and Peter as they adjust to custody and confront the consequences of their actions. Chukwubuikem Molokwu plays Christopher, also known as Ushindi, while Louis McCartney plays James and Ollie McNulty plays Peter. Daniel Ryan joins the cast as fellow custodial manager Freddie Jennings. The opening episode ends with the death of an inmate during a reconciliation meeting, according to a review of the episode.
