Strategy Raises Bitcoin Holdings to Record 847,666 BTC
Strategy acquired 1,665 bitcoin for $142.7 million during the week of September 21-27, raising its holdings to 847,666 BTC, a record for the company, according to a September 28 filing with the Securities and Exchange Commission. The purchase price averaged $85,681 per bitcoin. The new total exceeds Strategy’s previously reported peak of 847,363 BTC on June 22. The company said it had spent $63.95 billion to build its holdings, at an average cost of $75,437 per bitcoin, including fees and expenses. Strategy also reported selling 1,469,165 shares of its common stock through an at-the-market offering, generating $246.2 million in net proceeds. It allocated $142.7 million to bitcoin purchases and $103.5 million to repurchasing its STRC preferred stock. The filing said Strategy repurchased 1,534,530 STRC shares for $151.7 million. The company used the $103.5 million from common-stock sales and another $48.1 million from its USD Cash balance to fund the repurchases. As of September 27, that cash balance was $1 billion. A separate USD Reserve stood at $5.02 billion after $22.1 million in preferred-stock dividend payments.
