Bitcoin Jumps Nearly 17% as ETF Inflows Surge

Published 23 September 2026

Bitcoin rose from an intraday low of $74,912 on September 16 to a high of $87,397 on September 21, a gain of nearly 17% in less than a week, as a small number of powerful trading sessions drove most of the advance. U.S. spot Bitcoin exchange-traded funds recorded about $999 million in net inflows on September 21, their largest single-day total of 2026, while short-position liquidations and easing oil prices and Treasury yields also coincided with the rally. The advance was uneven. Price data cited in market reporting show that the sessions on September 18 and September 21 accounted for about 95% of Bitcoin’s close-to-close gain from September 16 to September 21. Bitcoin closed at $80,875 on September 18 after opening at $76,349, then climbed to an intraday high of $87,397 on September 21 and closed at $86,595. The intervening sessions were comparatively quiet. ETF inflows on September 21 were led by BlackRock’s iShares Bitcoin Trust, which received about $381 million. ARK 21Shares and Fidelity funds also drew substantial inflows.
