Spotify expands audiobooks to more than 180 markets

Published 7 October 2026

Spotify is expanding its audiobook service from 22 markets to more than 180 in a phased rollout that began October 7 and is scheduled to continue through the end of 2026. The company says the expansion will make the service available to users in markets across Europe, the Americas, the Caribbean, the Middle East, Africa and Asia. Spotify says the new markets will have access to more than 350,000 audiobook titles, with the overall catalog spanning more than 120 languages. The company has described the rollout as potentially reaching more than 750 million users, although availability and listening options vary by market and subscription plan. In eligible countries, Premium subscribers can listen to a set number of audiobook hours, while Spotify also offers a paid audiobook add-on and individual title purchases. The specific access terms differ by region. In India, Spotify has scheduled an audiobook launch for November 12, 2026, with a monthly add-on for Premium users and individual purchases also planned. The company has not yet announced the add-on price there, saying it would do so closer to launch. Spotify is also adding an audiobook add-on to student plans in select regions.
