IKEA launches UK secondhand marketplace for members

Published 7 October 2026

IKEA has launched a secondhand marketplace in the UK where IKEA Family members can buy and sell eligible used home-furnishing products directly with one another. The service excludes mattresses, appliances and food, and IKEA says the buyer protection fee is free at launch. Sellers can list qualifying items through the platform, which supplies product information to support listings, including recommended pricing, measurements and descriptions. Sellers may set their own price. Buyers can browse preowned IKEA furniture and homewares, while the company says spare parts, including wall-restraint brackets, can be ordered through the service at no charge. IKEA says sellers can receive proceeds in cash or choose an IKEA gift card with a 15% top-up. The platform is available to members of IKEA Family, the retailer’s loyalty program, which is free to join. The launch coverage describes the marketplace as an extension of IKEA’s Buy Back scheme, through which the company has bought back certain products in exchange for store credit. IKEA says preowned items on the platform average 60% less than equivalent new products.
