Shakes Seeks to Question Montia Sabbag in Hart Dispute

Published 8 October 2026

Miesha Shakes is seeking to question Montia Sabbag about a 2017 recording involving Kevin Hart as part of Shakes’s ongoing legal dispute with the comedian. Sabbag has not been ordered to appear, and the court has not decided whether she may be questioned. Court documents cited in reporting identify Sabbag as a potential witness. Shakes wants to ask her about the recording and the investigation that followed, matters Shakes contends are relevant to the dispute with Hart. The proposed questioning is not a finding about what happened in 2017, and no testimony from Sabbag has been reported. Hart sued his former assistant, alleging she violated a nondisclosure agreement by discussing his personal life in an interview with a blogger. Shakes disputes his claim and challenges the agreement, alleging Hart failed to meet obligations under it. The competing positions have not been resolved. A November 2024 ruling allowed Hart’s breach-of-contract claim to proceed past Shakes’s anti-SLAPP challenge. The judge did not determine that Shakes had breached the agreement.
