Seahawks open practice window for Zach Charbonnet

Published 1 October 2026

The Seattle Seahawks designated running back Zach Charbonnet to return to practice Thursday, opening a 21-day window for the team to assess his readiness while he remains on the reserve physically unable to perform list. The move does not confirm when he will practice or whether he will play again this season. Charbonnet must miss Seattle’s Week 4 game and is eligible to return to game action as early as Week 5, when the Seahawks are scheduled to face the San Francisco 49ers. That is an earliest possible date, not a confirmed return. He must be activated to the 53-player roster before playing. Under the window, Charbonnet can practice without counting against the active roster limit. Seattle has 21 days to activate him. If it does not, he will revert to the PUP list for the remainder of the season, according to the reported league rules. Coach Mike Macdonald said Wednesday that the timing would depend on how much practice Charbonnet needs and the team’s roster considerations. Macdonald also said Seattle would decide whether Charbonnet would practice Thursday. No subsequent participation or medical update was provided in the reports, leaving his progress and readiness unclear.
