Buck Hopes ESPN and Aikman Reach New Deal

Published 1 October 2026

Joe Buck said he hopes ESPN and Troy Aikman agree to a new contract, but emphasized that the negotiations are between the network and his longtime broadcast partner. Aikman’s current deal is reported to end after this NFL season, and no new agreement has been announced. Buck has signed a six-year extension with ESPN, leaving the future of the pair’s partnership uncertain. Buck discussed Aikman’s contract during a recent appearance on Philadelphia radio. He said he loves Aikman like a brother and hopes they can continue working together, while adding that he does not know how the talks will turn out. Buck said the decision belongs to Aikman and ESPN, rather than to him. The two have been broadcast partners for about 25 years, first at Fox and, since 2022, on ESPN’s Monday Night Football. Buck left Fox before his contract ended to join Aikman at ESPN. His new extension secures his role with the network, while Aikman’s next steps remain unsettled. Aikman has also said he wants to keep working with Buck. In a podcast interview, he said he had expected his contract situation to be resolved before the current season began, but had not discussed it with ESPN.
