Ryan Cohen Buys $22.8 Million in GameStop Shares

Published 14 October 2026

GameStop CEO Ryan Cohen bought 844,130 shares of the retailer on October 13 for about $22.8 million, according to a regulatory filing, extending a series of purchases that began in September. The transaction lifted his direct holdings to about 42.5 million shares. The filing showed Cohen paid an average of $26.98 per share. His latest purchase came after he bought 700,000 shares on October 2 for about $17.1 million. Reports of five purchases since September 10 put his combined spending at more than $99 million. GameStop shares closed regular trading on October 13 at $27.22. In premarket trading on October 14, they were reported around $27.65 to $27.72. One market-data account said the stock was on pace for its highest close since June 2025. The price movement followed disclosure of the purchase, but the available information does not establish that Cohen’s buying caused the rise. Cohen’s direct share count is distinct from a broader estimate that includes warrants. One report put that total at about 46.2 million shares, or 9.1% of GameStop. The filing-based direct holding was reported at roughly 42.5 million shares; the two figures use different definitions of ownership.
