Ripple and Meritz Explore Custody and Tokenization
Ripple and Meritz Securities have announced a partnership to explore digital-asset custody and tokenization for South Korea’s capital markets, beginning within the firm’s existing business and current regulations. The announcement makes Meritz Ripple’s first South Korean securities-firm partner and its fourth Korean institutional partner in 2026. The companies said they plan to assess how Ripple Custody and Ripple’s tokenization tools could support Meritz’s capital-markets operations. They intend to develop the cooperation in stages as South Korea’s digital-asset rules evolve. The announcement does not establish that a service has launched, and it provides no commercial launch date or implementation milestones. Meritz is also considering possible services involving spot cryptocurrency exchange-traded funds, fractional investment, security tokens, digital-asset trading platforms and stablecoins denominated in Korean won. Those areas remain exploratory: the firm has not confirmed plans to issue a stablecoin or launch any of the listed products through the partnership.
