Rangers move top as Naderi scores twice

Published 10 October 2026

Rangers beat Kilmarnock 3-1 on October 10 to move one point clear at the top of the Scottish Premiership, with Ryan Naderi scoring twice in the first half. The victory was Rangers’ sixth consecutive league win and seventh in all competitions, extending the club’s recent revival. Naderi opened the scoring with a header in the 15th minute, then added another just before halftime. Kevin Kelsy also scored before the break, putting Rangers 3-0 ahead. Naderi’s two goals took his season tally to six, according to match reports. Kilmarnock pulled one back late through substitute Nicky Clescenco, who finished a counterattack. The goal denied Rangers a fifth consecutive league clean sheet. Rangers remained a point ahead of Celtic after the match, but Celtic were due to visit Motherwell on Sunday, October 11. Celtic would regain first place if they avoided defeat. The result continued a sharp improvement for Rangers after they took only one point from their first two league matches and exited European competition. Naderi, a Czech Republic international who signed from German third-tier side Hansa Rostock in February, has become more influential in recent weeks.
