Celtic midfielder Mika Baur called up by Germany

Published 1 October 2026

Celtic midfielder Mika Baur has been included in Germany’s squad for Nations League matches against Serbia and Greece, a call-up he said arrived sooner than he expected after moving to Glasgow. The 22-year-old is available for selection, but the reports do not establish whether he will play in either match. Baur said representing Germany had seemed a distant prospect until he received the call. He described his move to Celtic as a step in his development but said he had not expected it to lead to international recognition so quickly. He said he was taking in the experience and hoped to make his mark, while acknowledging that he would have to earn any playing time. Germany are due to face Serbia and Greece in the Nations League. Baur’s inclusion in the squad makes an appearance possible, but squad membership does not guarantee selection for either fixture. The reporting identifies no appearance or debut by Baur. The call-up follows his move from Paderborn to Celtic in August. Before joining the Glasgow club, he had helped Paderborn win promotion to the Bundesliga, according to the reports.
