Raihan Vadra Says Bikaner House Removed 74 Photos
Artist Raihan Vadra says Bikaner House required him to remove 74 of 105 photographs shortly before his exhibition opened, including images documenting recent protests in Delhi. The exhibition, No Idea Is Final, proceeded with a reduced display after the photographs were taken down; Vadra said blank frames placed in their stead were also rejected. Vadra said the venue’s management objected to the protest photographs as overtly political and inappropriate in the prevailing context. He said he received a written objection at 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday, October 21, and was given a short deadline to remove the images. He said the management had raised concerns the previous evening as well. The exhibition was scheduled to open that evening at Bikaner House. According to Vadra, the photographs documented public movements in Delhi over the previous six months. He said he had shared the exhibition layout with the venue on October 15 and that the proposal had been approved on June 30, 2025. He also said he had already removed photographs containing political slogans because the venue had a policy against political content, but had not been told each artwork would be reviewed individually....
