Projectile reported near Dammam airport as tensions persist

Published 12 October 2026

Saudi Arabia’s coalition reported that a projectile fell near King Fahd International Airport in Dammam, as attacks on Saudi airports continued amid the conflict with Yemen’s Houthi movement. The coalition did not identify who launched the projectile, and the available report did not independently verify damage or casualties in Dammam. The report followed an attack Saturday on King Khalid International Airport in Riyadh. Accounts said 12 people were killed, but reported different injury totals: one gave 302 and another 309. The supplied reports did not explain the difference. The accounts said the Riyadh attack struck a passenger terminal; one reported that some of those injured were in critical condition. Coalition spokesperson Turki Al-Maliki described the Riyadh attack as a war crime and said the coalition would respond in accordance with international humanitarian law. That characterization and the stated response were the coalition’s position. The reports did not establish responsibility for the Dammam projectile, so its connection to the Houthi movement remains unconfirmed in the available information. The Dammam report came after recent attacks on Saudi airports.
