Four Countries Condemn Attacks on Saudi Arabia
Egypt, Saudi Arabia, Türkiye and Pakistan issued a joint statement on October 11 condemning attacks on Saudi Arabia and calling for them to stop, as strikes on Riyadh’s King Khalid International Airport killed 14 people over two days, according to Saudi authorities. The four governments expressed solidarity with Riyadh and support for measures to counter further attacks. Saudi authorities said a projectile struck the airport on Sunday, October 11, killing one person and injuring 11. The previous day, an attack killed 13 people and injured more than 300, according to reports citing Saudi authorities. The Houthis claimed responsibility for Saturday’s strike. No group had claimed Sunday’s attack in the supplied reporting. The joint statement, issued by the four countries’ regional grouping known as the R4, demanded an immediate halt to the attacks and held the Houthis responsible for their consequences. It described the strikes as a threat to Saudi Arabia and regional and international security. The statement also backed what it called legitimate measures by Riyadh to deter threats and prevent further attacks.
