Riyadh Airport Attack Kills 12, Injures 309, Officials Say

Published 12 October 2026

Saudi Arabia’s General Authority of Civil Aviation said an attack on King Khalid International Airport in Riyadh on Saturday killed 12 people and injured 309, prompting a temporary suspension of airport operations for safety checks and damage assessment. The authority said the dead included four Saudis and eight foreign nationals, while some of the injured were in critical condition. The reported death toll is disputed. The Saudi authority’s figure of 12 was cited in four of the five supplied reports, while another account put the toll at 13 and the number injured at 308. That account also reported that an Indian man later died from his injuries. The materials do not establish a reconciled final count. Saudi authorities said airport operations were halted temporarily to allow emergency teams to assess damage and verify the safety of facilities. The extent of the damage was still being assessed in the authority’s announcement. The sources did not confirm when operations resumed. The Houthis claimed responsibility for attacks on Saudi airports.
