Saudi Authorities Report 14 Dead in Riyadh Airport Attacks
Saudi authorities said attacks on Riyadh’s King Khalid International Airport killed 13 people and injured more than 300 on Saturday, followed by another strike on Sunday that killed one person and injured 11. The reported toll from Saturday rose from 12 after an Indian national wounded in the attack died, India’s embassy said. The General Authority of Civil Aviation attributed the Saturday casualties to the airport attack. The victims included four Saudi citizens and foreign nationals, according to Saudi authorities. The supplied reports do not provide an independent casualty count. Saudi-led coalition forces said an unidentified projectile struck Terminal 4 at Riyadh airport on Sunday and caused a fire. The aviation authority reported one Pakistani resident killed and 11 others injured in the new attack. Authorities were assessing damage and inspecting airport facilities for safety. The airport had remained closed after Saturday’s strike, disrupting air travel. Houthi military spokesperson Yahya Saree claimed responsibility for Saturday’s Riyadh attack. He also said the group had targeted King Fahd International Airport in Dammam and two Saudi Aramco facilities.
