Prahaar trailer previews Nikam and Kasab courtroom drama

The trailer for Prahaar, a courtroom drama about prosecutor Ujjwal Nikam and the trial of Ajmal Kasab, was unveiled in Mumbai on September 29. Rajkummar Rao plays Nikam, while Lalit Prabhakar portrays Kasab. The film is scheduled to open in theatres on October 16, 2026. The trailer places the prosecution and defence inside the courtroom after the 2008 Mumbai attacks, with Rao’s Nikam leading the case against Kasab. It also shows the character of Kasab challenging the prosecution’s account and raising questions about his confession and age. These are claims made in the film’s dramatic depiction, not established here as facts about the historical trial. In the trailer, Kasab’s character says he was tortured into signing a confession, denies involvement in the attacks and claims he was 17. His lawyer, portrayed by Sikandar Kher, seeks to have the case transferred to a juvenile court. The sequence presents the age claim as a turning point in the courtroom proceedings, but the trailer alone does not verify it. The film’s courtroom story also features Wamiqa Gabbi, Jaideep Ahlawat, Ashish Vidyarthi and Nassar. Avinash Arun directed the film, which is produced by Maddock Films.
