OpenAI rolls out ChatGPT clothing try-on worldwide

Published 2 October 2026

OpenAI is rolling out virtual clothing try-ons and a product-saving tool to ChatGPT users worldwide, adding shopping features that let people preview garments using personal images and revisit items later. The company announced the features on Thursday, October 1, according to the reports. The try-on option appears in ChatGPT shopping results as a “Try On” button. Users can upload a selfie or full-body photo and select clothing or an accessory to generate a preview. They can also upload an image of an item, such as a screenshot, and ask ChatGPT to show it on them. OpenAI says the feature uses its ChatGPT Images 2.5 model. The second feature lets users save products they find in chats to a Library in the app. The saved items can be viewed later alongside try-on images, according to OpenAI. The company describes the tools as part of ChatGPT’s shopping capabilities, which also include helping users find pieces based on a requested style or identify purchasable items in outfit photos. The announcement does not establish how accurately generated images represent the fit or appearance of clothing on an individual.
