New Zealand names Santner captain for India ODI series
New Zealand has named Mitchell Santner captain of its squad for a five-match home ODI series against India, scheduled to begin November 4 at Eden Park in Auckland. The selection includes Finn Allen, Lockie Ferguson, Tim Seifert and Rachin Ravindra, who is available for the first three matches. Allen and Ferguson return to New Zealand’s ODI setup after last appearing in the format in 2023. Ferguson’s most recent ODI was the 2023 World Cup semifinal against India in Mumbai. Allen has also been absent from the side for nearly three years, while Seifert last played an ODI during a home series against Pakistan. New Zealand has arranged different groups for the opening three matches and the final two. Seven additional players are set to join for the fourth and fifth ODIs, as some members of the initial group leave after the third match to prepare for the two-Test series against India. That series is scheduled to begin November 19 in Wellington. Rachin Ravindra returns after a shoulder injury ruled him out of the T20I series against India. Mark Chapman is also included for the first three ODIs after missing the T20Is with a hamstring injury.
