Netflix Announces Limited Bridgerton Series About Young Violet

Netflix has announced a limited Bridgerton series centered on Lady Violet’s early life and romance with Viscount Edmund Bridgerton, expanding the television franchise with a story about the parents of the eight Bridgerton siblings. The untitled series will follow Violet before she became the family’s matriarch and explore her relationship with Edmund, whom she later married. Netflix and Shondaland announced the project on October 8, 2026. The new series is planned as a limited series, but the announcement did not include a cast, production start date or release date. Shonda Rhimes and Nicholas Nardini are attached as writers, showrunners and executive producers. Tom Verica will direct and executive produce, and Betsy Beers is also an executive producer. The creative team brings together producers associated with Bridgerton and its previous prequel, Queen Charlotte: A Bridgerton Story. The story shifts attention from Violet’s children to an earlier generation of the family. In the original series, Ruth Gemmell plays the adult Violet.
