Nana Patekar dies at 75 after cardiac arrest in Goa
Actor Nana Patekar died at 75 in Goa on October 8, after suffering cardiac arrest at his home, according to Dr. Shekhar Salkar, a doctor at Manipal Hospital. Salkar said attempts to revive Patekar with cardiopulmonary resuscitation continued for about 45 minutes but were unsuccessful. A postmortem examination was pending, leaving the exact medical cause of death unconfirmed in the reports. Salkar said Patekar remained in asystole, meaning there was no detectable heart activity, throughout the resuscitation. The reports also said a medicolegal case had been registered. The account of the cardiac arrest and resuscitation was attributed to Salkar; the pending examination was expected to provide further information about the cause of death. Patekar’s son, Malhar, said he was on his way to Goa and would share further details, according to one report. No confirmed arrangements for funeral rites were available in the reports.
