Gary "Angry" Anderson, the frontman of Australian hard rock band Rose Tattoo, has died aged 79, the band announced on September 23, 2026. In a statement posted to the band's social media page, Rose Tattoo said Anderson died "on the eve of Monday 21 September 2026, surrounded by his loved ones here in Australia." The statement described him as "a devoted father, and much-loved member of his friends, bandmates and the wider music and entertainment community," adding that his loss "will be deeply felt by all those who knew and loved him both here in Australia and overseas." Anderson's death came weeks after he was hospitalised following a cardiac arrest. The family said at the time that Anderson "suffered a cardiac arrest and is currently in hospital receiving treatment and the care he needs," asking fans to respect the family's privacy as they focused on his treatment and recovery. He was hospitalised on August 31, according to one account. No medical cause of death has been released, and no statement has linked the death to the earlier cardiac arrest. The cardiac arrest cut short Rose Tattoo's European tour, with nine shows remaining.
