Liverpool host Man City amid appeal and injury absences

Published 11 October 2026

Liverpool are scheduled to host Manchester City at Anfield on Sunday, October 11, in a Premier League meeting between the leaders and the sixth-place team, with both clubs facing notable player absences. Kickoff is set for 4:30 p.m. local time, or 15:30 GMT. The match has not yet been played. Manchester City have won all five of their league matches and have 15 points. Liverpool have nine points from two wins and three draws, leaving them six points behind City before the fixture. A Liverpool victory would narrow the gap, while City arrive seeking to maintain their unbeaten start. Liverpool manager Andoni Iraola said Alexander Isak and Cody Gakpo would miss the match after returning from international duty with injuries. Another pre-match report also listed Hugo Ekitike, Conor Bradley and Giovanni Leoni among Liverpool’s absentees. It said Jeremy Jacquet was available after recovering from a hamstring strain and Federico Chiesa could return to the matchday squad. Manchester City manager Enzo Maresca said Erling Haaland was ready to play, despite leaving Norway’s match against Portugal earlier in the month.
